Prosthetics For Army Veterans
Through our partnership with Cry For Help Foundation, we discovered the level of abandonment on the wounded soldiers who have fought the terrorist invasions of some parts of Northern Nigeria, since 2009. Some of these soldiers lost limbs through IED explosions that took them away, and up until now, no care has been rendered to their pitiable situation. Most of these veterans who barely survive on their meagre pension, resort to alms begging and have turned to panhandlers in other to survive. Through our several medical outreaches in some Nigerian Army and Police barracks, the deplorable state of their affairs will keep one with nightmares and scary visions for quite some time.
SOLUTIONS THROUGH FUNDING
They need adequate medical care. A trauma unit, and a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) help-unit for therapy and rehabilitation is needed also, for rejuvenation and reassimilation into their communities. Things like this do not exist, and even if they do, they are moribund. The greatest challenge in medical outreach is taking care of these war veterans, who had served their nation, but are now beggarly and without care, losing one or both limbs. They are grateful for the free medications, but they need prosthetics for survival. We seek financial support, funding, and partnership to help with the humanitarian services (medical and prosthetic limbs) rendered to these people who wouldn't get it if we didn't help. This will further help us in reaching other poor veterans who are tucked away in communities without access to any medical care. We will also grow our partnerships with other organisations that will provide therapeutic services in taking care of the penurious veterans.
